Toronto police have charged a 22-year-old man after a fatal shooting in Scarborough on New Year's Day.
Jamahl Franklin, 20, died after he was shot several times around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Emergency crews found him at 101 Hupfield Trail near Neilson Road and Finch Avenue East and pronounced him dead at the scene. Franklin was at a house party in the area prior to his death.
On Thursday, police charged Baptists Bernier of Toronto with second-degree murder. He made a brief court appearance on Friday.
Police are asking anyone who attended the party Franklin was at to come forward with photos or video that can aid their investigation.
Franklin was one of two people murdered on New Year's Day.
Mike Pimentel, 24, was found suffering from stab wounds near East Liberty Street and Hanna Avenue around 3 a.m. He died later in hospital.
Pimentel got separated from friends after leaving a party at the banquet hall at Liberty Grand. His killer remains at large.
